Chapter 6:

Mila

“Chelsea, I have something to tell you, but I need it to stay between us.”

"Umm, ok, is it something bad?"

“No, it is something amazing, but it needs to stay a secret, at least for now."

“I am the vault girl now spill.”

I take a deep breath, "I met Gail Winters and Luna Graham."

"You what? Why does that have to be a secret I am so jealous do you think if I come to visit you could get me an introduction? What is she like? Is it one person or two people? She is she, right? Is she gay?" The questions come one after another, and I laugh as she rattles them off, not giving me any chance to answer.

“Ok let me see if I can answer them in order. Yes, I can most likely get you an introduction. She is a bit shy, but I am sure that she could handle meeting a superfan. She is amazing, smart, funny, gorgeous. It is one person that writes both series under a penname. She is gay, and she asked me on a date."

There is silence on the other end of the line, and I pull the phone from my ear to see if we have been disconnected. It shows that we are still connected.

"Chelsea, are you still there?"

"Yes, I am here just processing. You realize that you told me you have a date with our favorite author, she is attractive and everything we thought she would be. You are going on a date with my hall pass." She squeals, and I can hear her feet tapping on her hardwood floor as she dances.

“When is this date?” Chelsea asks.

"Tonight," I say, and my palms start to sweat.

“She is going to make me dinner at her place.”

“You are going to have Luna Graham make you dinner.”"Her real name is Ariana, but yes."

"All the deets tomorrow, you understand all the deets."

I laugh, "Yes, I will call you with all the details."

“What are you going to wear?”

“I was thinking the red wrap dress with the black stilettos. Is that too much for dinner at home?"

"You are going on a date with Luna Graham. No, it isn't too much. I hope you knock her socks off."

“If I have any hope of doing that, I need to go get ready. Call you tomorrow and wish me luck.”

"You don't need luck, you are gorgeous, funny, and intelligent on top of the fact that you make the best-baked goods ever."

"Thanks for the confidence boost bestie. Talk to you tomorrow." I disconnect the call and go to my closet, pulling out my go-to date dress. It never fails to make me feel sexy and confident.

Slipping it over my head, I check my makeup in the mirror. I went light as a concession to the stay at home dinner. I left my long dark hair loose and curled. As I step into my heels, I give myself a little sultry smile in the mirror. I haven't been this excited for a date in a long time, and it feels good.
